Yarn alternatives (1:1 replacement in patterns)
This yarn is a classic airy mohair blend with extra durability and can be used as a direct hand-dyed alternative to popular lace-weight yarns:
- Drops Kid-Silk (get a hand-dyed unique play of colors with more depth)
- Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair
- Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair
- Filcolana Tilia
Suggested pattern ideas:
- As lace-weight: Perfect together with a fingering- or DK-weight wool yarn in projects such as Cumulus Blouse, No Frills Sweater or Novice Sweater (PetiteKnit) to give a luxurious, dappled play of colors.
- Alone / Single strand: Light, feminine shawls, scarves or cowls.
Wash & Care
- Washing instructions: Hand wash cold with gentle wool soap. Gently press the water out in a towel and dry flat.
- Excess dye: Since the yarn is hand-dyed in small batches, a little excess dye may occur during the first wash (especially with dark and saturated berry tones). Always wash dark and light colors separately.
Good to know about hand-dyed yarn
Sisters, not twins
This yarn is hand-dyed with passion.
Skeins from the same dye bath are like sisters – they look alike and have a lot in common, but every single skein is also its own unique work of art.
That is the beauty of hand-dyed yarn.
Tip: For larger projects, it is recommended to alternate between two skeins every other row to achieve a beautiful and even color distribution.
