Yarn alternative (1:1 replacement in patterns)
This classic 4-ply sock yarn hits a standard Fingering gauge (approx. 28–30 sts = 10 cm on 2,5 mm needles) and can directly replace popular commercial sock yarns:
- Filcolana Arwetta Classic (get a unique hand-dyed color play instead of solid color)
- Sandnes Sisu
- Drops Fabel
Obvious pattern suggestions:
- Socks: Perfect for luxury socks like Everyday Socks (PetiteKnit) or Hermione's Everyday Socks. 1 skein (50g) is enough for a pair of ankle socks or smaller sizes (2 skeins are recommended for a complete pair of adult socks with a long cuff).
- Sweaters & Cardigans: Perfect alone on 3 mm needles for fine, light sweaters like Ankers Sommer Bluse (PetiteKnit), or combined with a mohair companion yarn for f.ex. No Frills Sweater or Kumulus Bluse.
- Hats & Scarves: Perfect for Oslohuen (knitted together with mohair) or Sophie Scarf.
Wash & Care
- Washing instructions: Can withstand gentle machine washing on a wool program (cold/30°C) thanks to the Superwash treatment. Dry flat.
- Excess dye: Since the yarn is hand-dyed in small batches, a little excess dye may occur during the first wash (especially with saturated magenta and berry tones). Always wash dark and light colors separately.
Good to know about hand-dyed yarn
Sisters, not twins
This yarn is hand-dyed with passion.
Skeins in the same dye bath are like sisters – they look alike and have a lot in common, but every single skein is also its own unique work of art.
That is the beauty of hand-dyed yarn.
Tip: For larger projects, it is recommended to alternate between two skeins on every other row to achieve a beautiful and even color distribution.
